A 21st century botanic garden that demonstrates the crucial contribution of tropical rainforests to life on earth. 

To provide a roadmap for rainforest conservation, celebration of traditional knowledge and protection for a healthy planet.  

The Garden’s objectives are to:

• protect and enhance the natural environment while creating a world class botanical institution and horticultural collection of international significance
• highlight the significance of tropical rainforest flora, delivering tropical plant knowledge for science and society
• provide research, learning, training, education and information about the natural environment, focusing on tropical rainforest botany and environmental bio-security
• develop a wet tropics flora plant breeding domestication and commercialisation programme to underwrite future agricultural and horticultural diversification and sustainability
• create the basis for a leading ethnobotany and home to an exceptional botanical art gallery and collection.
